250,000 sq ft pre-let at Two Snowhill
Wragge & Co has confirmed its pre-let of 23,226 sq m (250,000 sq ft) of office space at No 2 Snow Hill, the second phase of Ballymore's 92,902 sq m (1,000,000 sq ft) development. The law firm will take occupation of 11 floors of the 14 storey building in 2011. Completion to shell and core is expected in mid 2010.
Green light for 29-storey tower
Kenmore Property Group has been granted planning permission by Birmingham City Council for a 29-storey tower at 1 Snow Hill Plaza. The Scottish property developer is expected to start work in early 2009 on its 66,890 sq m (720,000 sq ft) scheme in Birmingham city centre, with completion expected in 2011. The new tower will be the largest in the UK outside London. The £230m development will include 40,000 sq m (430,000 sq ft) of offices, 1,486 sq m (16,000 sq ft) of leisure and retail space and 175 car parking spaces.
Demolition begins at Edgbaston Galleries
Calthorpe Estates has begun demolition of the existing 17 storey tower at Edgbaston Galleries, Hagley Road, in central Birmingham. The 39,437 sq m (424,500 sq ft) development will include 14,800 sq m (159,300 sq ft) of Grade A office space. The first phase is due for completion in 2010.
Outline consent for £110m development
Outline planning consent has been granted for Calthorpe Estates £110m mixed use Birmingham development, to be known as "Edgbaston Galleries". Following demolition of the existing Edgbaston Shopping Centre, a 39,437 sq m (424,500 sq ft) scheme will be created, which will include a 4,794 sq m (51,600 sq ft) foodstore, 5,295 sq m (57,000 sq ft) of retail and leisure space, two hotel buildings and 14,800 sq m (159,300 sq ft) of Grade A offices. The development will also offer 800 car parking spaces. Calthorpe hope to make a start on site this year, and estimate completion in 2010. DTZ are letting agents.
2007 start for Calthorpe House
Construction of Calthorpe Estates's £40m Birmingham office scheme, to be known as Calthorpe House, will start this year. Demolition of existing buildings on site has now been completed, making way for a 9,476 sq m (102,000 sq ft) office building, which will provide floorplates of up to 2,044 sq m (22,000 sq ft). Completion is anticipated for mid 2009. DTZ are letting agents.
