Aviva appoints architect

Aviva (CGU France), the insurance group, has appointed Robert AM Stearn Architects (00 1 212 967 5100, the US firm, to design the 35 storey Tor Carpe Diem office building, in Paris, France. The 45,000 sq m (484,380 sq ft) building will be on the north side of La Defense and link the scheme to the Courbevoie area. SRA Architects of Châtillon, France, will serve as associate architect for the project. Robert A.M. Stern Architects was selected to design the project in a three-way design competition; the other competitors were Jacques Ferrier Architecte (Paris) and Foster + Partners. - (02-02-2008)

Akeler in Paris

Akeler, the developer, will complete the first phase of 13,006 sq m (140,000 sq ft) in two office buildings at its Air Park de Paris business park near Orly airport, Paris, in July 2006. The company will start on the 19,937 sq m (215,000 sq ft) Phase 2 of three office buildings when Phase one is half let. In total the 8ha (20-acre) business park will provide 77,108 sq m (830,000 sq ft) with an option for a further 46,451 sq m (500,000 sq ft). - (22-09-2005)

Place Vendome underway

Construction of Hammerson's speculative 25,000 sq m (270,000 sq ft) Place Vendome office scheme in the heart of central Paris is now well underway, with a completion date set for Spring 2006. The architect for the scheme in Paris 2 is Boisseson Dumas Vilmorin and the project manager is Veritas. - (18-11-2004)

"Suez' building start

Construction has started on the 11,000 sq m (120,000 sq ft) former bank of Suez at 26 Rue d'Ville Eveque and 1-5 Rue d'Astborg in Paris 8. The developer is SCI Cambra and the contractor is CPCU. The building is opposite the recently completed 8 Rue Astborg. - (17-11-2004)
