London office lettings in March 2012 as researched
by Cityoffices, reached 800,000 sq ft, in line
with recent monthly totals. The largest letting
was Pushbutton's near 50,000 sq ft deal at the
Glasshouse building in EC1. A healthy 70 deals of

Office lettings in Central London in March 2011 reached 700,000 sq ft, a little below recent monthly averages. Some 51 deals over 5,000 sq ft were reported. There was a fairly even split between the City and the West End with the biggest transaction the 112,000 sq ft letting to NBC Universal at Central St Giles. - (29-04-2011)

Central London office lettings maintained their momentum in March 2010, with nearly 1.1m sq ft transacted. March was the fifth successive month when office take-up has topped 1m sq ft. The City accounted for nearly 500,000 sq ft, whilst a spate of large lettings around the NW1 postcode, in particular at British Land's Regent Place scheme, helped boost the west end. - (28-04-2010)

110 Bishopsgate a.k.a Heron Tower, the 46 storey, 230m high, building that will provide 40,836 sq m (439,560 sq ft) of grade A office space close to Liverpool Street Station, London, EC3 was topped out today. Heron International, will complete the tower in March 2011, when in addition to the office space the building will also provide apartments, restaurants and skybar. Heron chief executive Gerald Ronson said "I believe that Heron Tower has come to market at the right time.”

Completion of D2 Private's 9,300 sq m (100,000 sq ft) speculative office building at 23 Savile Row, Mayfair, London, W1, designed by Eric Parry Architects, is expected in March 2009. The development manager of the scheme, which also has retail on the ground floor and six flats on the top two floors, is Stanhope. The Beetham Organization is thought to be about to submit plans for a 92,920 sq m (1m sq ft) office and retail scheme on a 1.3ha (3.2 acre) site that includes Bain Dawes House and Latham House, 16 Minories, London, EC3, and Aldgate bus station. The scheme involves three office buildings with 3,251 sq m (35,000 sq ft) of retail space. The first phase of the development could start in March 2007, subject to planning permission. The tallest building is 22 storeys and the 12 storey block could be first and developed as a speculative building. - (06-07-2006)

Work on Investstream’s refurbishment of Albion House, 55, New Oxford Street, London WC1, will complete during March 2005. The speculative office scheme will provide 4,088 sqm (44,003 sq ft) of space and is being marketed by Hodnett Martin Smith and Jones Lang LaSalle. In March 2005, Sir Robert McAlpine is expected to complete the construction of City Office’s (Greycoat) new 12,322 sq m (132,642 sq ft) Condor House office and retail scheme at 4 St Paul’s Churchyard, London, EC4. The building, known as Condor House, is being marketed by CB Richard Ellis. The building will provide a net office area of 10,033 sq m (108,000 sq ft). - (13-01-2005)

Allen & Overy, the law firm, has formally signed the lease with Hammerson and the Corporation of London for its new 70,000 sq m (750,000 sq ft) headquarters at Bishops Square, Spitalfields, London E1 at £45 psf on a 25-year lease. It is thought that the firm also has a 21-month rent free period. Construction, of the Foster & Partners designed building, should start in early 2003. However everything is still subject to planning consent being granted by Tower Hamlets. The first announcement of the deal was made in March 2002 and at this time the rent free period was 18 months. - (22-09-2002)

The revised planning application for the 89,087 sq m (958,954 sq ft) office and retail 'Grand Union Building' development at Paddington, designed by Richard Rogers Partnership, is due to go to Westminster City Council planning committee on 14th March. It is thought that members of the Chelsfield led consortium will 'allez' from MIPIM to be back in time for the meeting. - (04-03-2002)

Mitsubishi Estate Company is said to be selling its Paternoster Square office development in London EC4. The 46,451 sq m (500,000 sq ft) scheme is under construction and due for completion in March 2003. Mitsubishi is believed to have invested over £220m in the scheme and borrowed a further £200m to build it. All the buildings at Paternoster are now pre-let and the rent roll is put at abut £35m, with average rent said to be around £592 per sq m (£55 per sq ft). It is thought that Mitsubishi may retain one of the buildings. Healey & Baker has been appointed to sell the completed development. - (10-02-2002)

Skanska is rumoured to have won the main construction contract on Greycoats' 1 London Wall office development in EC2. The scheme, designed by Foster & Partners, will provide about 28,980 sq m (311, 940 sq ft) of office space. Demolition of the existing building is underway and main construction is expected to start in March 2002. - (15-10-2001)
